Our Grand Arrival!!!
Today the University of Delaware Winter Session to Brazil arrived in Rio de Janeiro! We were welcomed by the notable statue known as Christ the Redeemer and a massive floating Christmas tree. After we settled in our hotel we perused a craft fair to get a taste of the local artwork. The vibracy and raw energy of the Brazilian people was evident in each creation. Our initial exploration of the city was a bit bewildering at times due to the drastic change in temperature and the eclectic Brazilian people adorned in skimpy swimwear. Finally, during a beautiful sunset we walked along the reknown Copacabana beach to get a bite to eat. The dinner was quite impressive with heavy meats as well as tropĂcal fruit dishes. We are all looking forward to a restful night after our long voyage.

So glad you liked the first dinner. Today after class, Sue and I booked a dinner for the group this Friday night at the Carretao Churrascaria on R. Visconde de Piraja, 112. That will be a real treat for everyone - (except maybe our vegan friend Allison!) :-) Jules
