Using Labels

Beneath each posting box is an area to add Labels to your post. Click "Show all" to see all available labels. Select your last name(s) and other tags that apply to your post from the list. Add new ones (i.e."Rio de Janeiro") that will be relevant to other blogger posts by typing them in the Label box.

Note: A single post may have up to 20 labels. Because this blog has more than 20 authors, a second post was created for the purpose of creating labels for them. Labels are used to generate the tag cloud on the home page so family and friends can easily find your posts by clicking your last name.

Good Blog Basics

Though you might not totally agree with this list of what makes a good blog, here are some factors to consider when crafting your own entries. This list was borrowed directly from What Makes for a Good Blog? if you want more details. I'm giving Merlin full credit.

Good blogs...

...have a voice.
...reflect focused obsessions.
...are the product of “Attention times Interest.”
...posts are made of paragraphs.
...“non-post” blogs have style and curation.
...are weird.
...make you want to start your own blog.
...try.
...know when to break their own rules.

Image Basics

Consider compressing images before uploading. Mac owners can use iPhoto. Win users can use Microsoft Office Tools' Picture Manager to format individual photos. Batches can be converted to smaller file sizes using: http://www.xentrik.net/software/photo_resizer.html.

Experiment with how text wraps around images. Images will align with the top of an individual paragraph. Image size of Small/Medium/Large/X-Large can be chosen after insertion. You can drag images to new post locations. Blogger's built-in tool requires images to be selected individually. See the Picasa reference below to learn how to share albums of photos.

What other ways to post pictures are available?

Aside from the image uploading tool built into Blogger's post editor, there are several other options to help you get pictures on your blog. Here's the list:

1. If you have a camera phone or a similar mobile device, you can use Blogger Mobile (see Posting Basics in this blog) to send photos to your blog. The attached images will be uploaded to the web and included in your post.
2. Consider downloading Google's free photo software, Picasa, and use the "BlogThis!" button to post pictures directly to your blogs. One advantage in using this method is that any edits you make in Picasa, like removing red-eye or lighting enhancements, are uploaded along with your photo. Captions written in Picasa are not transferred in this release, so you will need to add these in the Blogger post editor.
   
3. There are also a number of third-party services that will let you post pictures to your blog, including , BuzzNet, FotoFlix, Photobucket, and Photolightning.

Posting via a web browser

Login at www.blogger.com. Click the UDglobal blog. Click New Post from the menu in the upper right-hand side of the frame. Adding Labels to your posts will allow viewers to filter your blog information using the search tool. Publish your post or Save as Draft if you need to finish it later. Once published, click the pencil icon beneath your existing posts if you need to make additional edits. Add text to the box beneath others posts to Comment.

Posting via email

The Mail-to-Blogger feature turns any email account into a blog-posting application. Email posts with attached photos or videos directly to: 4UDglobal.post@blogger.com

When offline, consider writing emails and saving drafts for posting when internet is available.

Posting via mobile device

Register a mobile device: send a text message from your mobile device to 256447 (BLOGGR) to enable posting to this site. [Note: The following video specifies posting within the U. S., so experimentation is needed to determine if the process works in Brazil.] A claim token will be issued to associate mobile post with existing blogs. There is a 150 character text message limit.
